Columbia University, officially named Columbia University in the City of New York, is located in Manhattan, New York, USA. It is one of the world's top private research universities, one of the 14 founding universities of the American University Association, and one of the Ivy League schools. .

Founded in 1754, Columbia University is one of the five oldest universities in the United States. It was established as King's College under the Royal Charter of George II of the United Kingdom, and was renamed Columbia College in 1784 after the American Revolutionary War.

Columbia University has an undergraduate acceptance rate of 5.8%. It is currently the third-largest university in the United States and the second-largest university in the Ivy League after Harvard. Its first principal was Samuel Johnson, the literary giant. Over the years, Colombia has cultivated countless outstanding alumni, from Oscar winners and Nobel Prize winners to Supreme Court judges.
