Overview:


The Australian National University (ANU), founded in 1946, is located in Canberra, the capital of Australia. It is a publicly-run research university in Australia and a world-renowned top university. It is also the Pacific Rim University Alliance and the International Research University Alliance , Member of the Australian Eight Schools Alliance. It was established by legislation by the Australian Federal Parliament and is the highest institution in Australia that enjoys the qualifications of a national university.


ANU is the world's leading education and research center. It is known for its highly-reputed research-led teaching. It has the largest library in the Southern Hemisphere, the most advanced supercomputer in the Southern Hemisphere, Gadi[8], and the world-famous competition. Dingquan Observatory. Australia's four major national academies of science and the Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) are all located here. The world's first clinical medical penicillin and instant photon transfer technology were also born here.


ANU only recruited graduate students in the early days of its founding in 1946, and began to offer undergraduate teaching in 1960. The percentage of PhDs among teaching staff is 88%, the highest in Australia. More than one-third of the Australian Federal Academicians teach or engage in scientific research here. In 2016, Nobel Prize winner Brian Schmidt became the principal of the school.
