The University of Sydney (USYD, or informally Sydney Uni) is a public research university located in Sydney, Australia. Founded in 1850, it is the first university in Australia and is considered one of the world's top universities. The university is known as one of the six sandstone universities in Australia.


The University of Sydney is a member of the Sandstone Academy, the Australian Eight Schools Alliance, the Pacific Rim University Alliance, the Commonwealth University Association, the Global College Artificial Intelligence Academic Alliance, the New Engineering Education International Alliance, and the Asia Pacific International Trade Education and Research Alliance.
