The Polytechnic Institute of Paris (French: Institut polytechnique de Paris), referred to as IP-Paris, is a public higher education institution and research institution located in the Sacré Plateau near the French capital Paris. It is a research-intensive, educational and commercial The center is known as one of the eight leading innovation clusters in the world.


Institut Polytechnique de Paris was established in May 2019 by the merger of the five most prestigious engineering universities in Paris in 2019: Télécom Paris, Télécom SudParis, ENSTA Paris, ENSAE ParisTech and École Polytechnique.


Thanks to the 200-year scientific and technical expertise of the 5 founding schools, the Paris Polytechnic has now brought together more than 30 large-scale research laboratories and interdisciplinary innovation centers, and is positioned as the leading science and technology institute in France and even the world. The college provides cutting-edge research and training programs. The research is conducted around 5 priority areas: energy and climate change, security, digital, technology and health, and its core goal is to create a world-class research palace.

About Undergraduate:


Institut Polytechnique de Paris offers one Bachelor of Science degree at École Polytechnique. The three-year program is taught in English. 


After tackling fundamental knowledge in science in the first year, in the second and third years, students work towards one of three double majors:

Mathematics and Economics

 


Students can also travel abroad in the fall semester of their third year at a partner university including the University of Toronto, UC Berkeley, EPFL, KAIST, King’s College London, or The University of Melbourne. In the spring, students have an eight-week research internship, at the end of which they must submit their Bachelor Thesis.

 


Fees for EU students are €12,500 and €15,600 for non-EU students. 



About Postgraduate:


Institut Polytechnique de Paris offers over a wide range of postgraduate courses, including:


Master of Science in Engineering (Diplôme d’ingénieur)

Each school at Institut Polytechnique de Paris has its own 3-year (or 4-year) engineering program. A highly selective entrance examination is open to international students who have completed at least 2 years of undergraduate studies.


It proposes a customizable multidisciplinary education offering a broad scientific and technical knowledge in Institut Polytechnique de Paris’ fields of excellence. The programs allow strong interactions with companies and laboratories and include solid competences in management, law, economics and social sciences.


Entry requirement: Master of Science in Engineering (Diplôme d'ingénieur) is open to students who have completed at least 2 years of an undergraduate degree in science (mathematics, statistics, applied mathematics, physics, computer sciences) or engineering.


Fees for international students on the Master’s of Science in Engineering program vary between €1,850 a year to €12,600 a year depending on the school and whether the student is European or not. 


International students admitted in the frame of international cooperation agreements may benefit from partial or total exemptions of their Master of Science in Engineering (Diplôme d’ingénieur) tuition fees.

Entry requirements: Master’s are open to students who have completed an undergraduate degree in science or engineering.  Students with a Bachelor in Economics may also apply to a Master’s in Economics. 


Tuition fees for a master’s program ranges from €243 a year to €6,243 a year, depending on the program itself and the student’s nationality.



PhD programs within 2 doctoral schools  

Institut Polytechnique de Paris offers three-year PhD programs in a variety of disciplinary fields. The doctoral research is based on 30 laboratories and takes place in a high-quality scientific environment. PhD students are offered the opportunity to conduct their PhD with high-tech companies and multinational groups with renowned R&D departments or with major national and international research institutes (CNRS, Inria, CEA, Weizmann Institute of Science…). The doctoral theses have a strong collaborative component. They benefit from the CIFRE agreement, the numerous Chairs established in IP Paris and the doctoral training networks and European partnerships.

Co-accredited with Paris Saclay University & Paris Sciences & Lettres University (PSL),  Hadamard Doctoral School of Mathematic covers all mathematical fields ranging from pure mathematics to applied mathematics in particular in domains at the interface of mathematics and other fields of research. It is extremely open to international recruitment.

Entry requirements: PhD applicants are required to have completed a master’s degree in the field of their thesis subject.


Registration fees are €380 a year. All PhD students in France are awarded research fellowships.


PhD Tracks (Integrated Master and PhD Programs) 


Institut Polytechnique de Paris offers also five-year integrated Master and PhD Programs – named PhD Tracks – in a variety of disciplinary fields. The PhD Tracks offer top students a selective and personalized curriculum with training periods at laboratories and opportunity to focus gradually on their thesis subject. A renowned professor oversees each student’s work.


Entry requirements: PhD Tracks are open to students who have completed an undergraduate degree in science or engineering. Economics students may also apply to a PhD Track in Economics.


Fees: PhD Tracks fees are €243 a year. For PhD-Tracks, the 2-year master fees are waived.  Merit-based scholarships can be granted to the best students.


There are a number of scholarships available at Institut Polytechnique de Paris including from the French Government or the country of origin, as well as grants or loans from foundations or alumni associations.
